Hi! I'm Cedar. I started watching during season 5, and I kind of fell off the wagon during season 10 due a lot of things going on in my life at the time. When it was announced that this season would be the end, I decided to get back into it.

I went to the Chicago 2010 and Nashville 2011 conventions. The plan was for me and my best friend to go to New Orleans convention this November, but we're expecting it to be postponed. Greatly looking forward to it whenever it does happen. I've also ended up deciding to go for the San Francisco convention due to the rescheduled dates.

I love both Sam and Dean, but I lean slightly more towards Sam. I have a long list of other characters I adore.

I am an extrovert trapped in my home. Halp.

Hey!

I'm so envious of those who get to go to the good cons, to be honest. Here in New Zealand we have Armageddon, which is great, but the big people never come of course.

I think my fave though was DJ Qualls, it was a great panel, and then we bumped into him in the crowds later and he was very nice :)

This year of course it's all gonna be virtual panels. I have hope that those who normally wouldn't come all the way down here might do a virtual panel.

I'm an introvert who thoroughly enjoyed lockdown, and miss it now that we're not locked down anymore O.O

That's definitely understandable. From what I've seen the cons overseas are more relaxed, but they don't usually get the main cast.

That's fair. Both of my roommates are in similar positions where they're basically just doing their normal routines. I'm on discord a lot trying not to crowd my roommates' personal space too much by being overly chatty, lol.

Yeah I have to admit, the kiwi cons are pretty chill. Oftentimes panels are in tiny rooms and it's really personal, there's no lining up or 'pass the microphone', just a bunch of people in a room gasbagging :)

I was planning lobbyconning for NOLA (Creation prices are just... out of my price range right now) but my airbnb got cancelled so I have no idea what we're going to do. :/

That's understandable. Right now NOLA is somewhat up in the air too (I'll be surprised if any conventions get to go ahead this year at the current rate), so it's especially hard to plan for. :/

Mostly, I just want a vacation, and NOLA seemed like a good choice. A whole group of us is supposed to go, we decided we’d make a decision the first week of September.

In the meantime, I have a week and a half blocked off work and no idea if I’m going to be doing anything more interesting than sitting on my couch.

I had this aversion to fandom since having some bad experiences when I was a baby fan in a completely different fandom. (I just flung myself into fandom having no idea that flamewars and shipwars etc were a thing and I honestly thought people were joking when they claimed they were upset about some tiny detail in one episode that ruined everything or were willing to fight about Character A being a hundred times better than Character B.)

So I have literally spent fifteen seasons of Supernatural avoiding its fandom. One friend who loves fanwank drama would keep me up to speed on who hates whom, which only underscored my decision to avoid it all. But… in those fifteen seasons, I actually haven't experienced anything but nice interactions with the fans that I've bumped into. So maybe it's okay to poke my head out of my cave and say "Hi."

Hi, oldtoadwoman! I've had some bad experiences in other fandoms, too, so I know how that goes (Starsky and Hutch comes to mind). This fandom seems awfully nice, though. :)

Hi. It also helps that I have learned to walk away from people who irritate me. (Baby-fan-me was so desperate for everyone to get along that I inadvertently put myself right in the middle of several messes trying to play peacemaker with everyone.)

I also think old-school fandom sometimes got extra nasty because we didn't have the ability to go to our separate corners. There were only a handful of places for discussion so you kept bumping into the same people trying to control everything. I remind myself of that whenever I get nostalgic about "the good old days".

I've had very few not-nice interactions in SPN over the years. Perhaps because I wasn't on tumblr ;)

I think it's largely about having the ability to curate your own fannish experience. When I was younger I didn't know how to quietly edge away from the fans who were making me uncomfortable and I took (still take?) criticism of something I like as criticism of me. These days I cope by avoiding potentially upsetting conversations, but that means I'm probably missing out on a lot of cool conversations too.

We do what we gotta do. I try not to think about what I'm missing out on and concentrate on what I do get, which is a stress-free fandom experience (more or less) :D

Hi! I've definitely had mixed experiences in fandom, but I have had a lot of positive interactions in the Supernatural community. Being able to walk away from people who just want to get a rise out of others is also important, and that's something I've been doing a lot of in these current times.

esteefee on dw, tumblr, ao3 (pretty much anywhere). Love the show but was slow to catch on, so it feels like fandom has passed me by a bit. Also, don't want the show to end!

Am worried about health of cast and crew and hope they won't try to get back to work too soon. This virus is no joke.

The fandom totally passed me by as well tbh, mainly because once I was obsessed, most of SPN fandom was on tumblr, and I had already left!

Yeah I'm not minding this sudden hiatus. The show would have been over by now otherwise. Silver lining of a nasty cloud is we still have episodes to come!

Started watching live with s10, although i was looking for fic while s9 was still airing (judging by what i was reading in those early days, 9.07 was when i found ao3, but i'd been reading on ff.net for longer-- ff.net was brand freaking new when i stopped engaging in fandom and by the time I came back, we'd all moved to ao3).

Mostly i do fic and some light meta, but very little of the meta ever gets posted anywhere.

I wandered from my first time in fandom perhaps around the same time. A lot of fic was still on handcoded archives back then, but I do recall FFn existing.

When I came back, most people were still posting on FFn. AO3 existed, but it hadn't gotten mainstream adoption yet (at least in the fandoms I was in).

I wonder if ff.net ever got the wide spread adoption that ao3 has. Because I quit reading fic (for... shitty reasons that have a lot to do with my ex) in 2009 and either the HP fandom never moved beyond handcoded archives or it was a late thing. I guess HP has diagon alley or whatever it was though, which omitted the need for FF

I remember reading HP fic on FFn 2010-2013ish. There was still a lot going on on independent automated archives, and on LJ at the time, too, but I didn't spend much time at all in those places.

I feel like FFn is still *the place* for a significant part of fandom. I spent some time on fandom reddit a few years back and FFn was still HIGHLY popular. It was very blokey over there as well, though, so perhaps that's it?

I almost want to report that it felt like FFn also skewed younger as well, but it almost doesn't make sense to me considering it's such a dinosaur of a website and I can't fathom how it would appeal,
