A question about the day after

Hi.

I've been watching the show for a while and I have a question: what happens if Michael kills Satan?

Does somebody else have to become the boss of hell?

Also: I've heard Supernatural's got renewed for a sixth season! Hooray :D

I think it's been left rather vague. Episode 5.04 suggested that the major problem to humanity would come with the release of the Croatoan virus. However, why this would require Lucifer's presence is still unknown. Of course, the only remaining horseman to appear is Pestilence and presumably that will be his role. But how the horsemen tie into Lucifer's continued presence, or what else Michael will do seems really unclear right now.

It's a bit annoying that it's so vague, but looking up stuff on Wikipedia and trying to figure out how all the myths fit and guess about stuff is kind of cool, although the religious articles are sometimes hard to wade through. I haven't had as much fun with a show since Battlestar Galactica was on!

...I hope Supernatural ends better than BSG did though.
